PART 1

"5 years ago after the demise of my parents, I moved from my aunt's (my dad's elder sis)house to live with my elder brother who had just rented a new apartment, because of how difficult things were for her and her family.

It was so bad that I couldn't eat one good meal in a day and I wasn't working then.

When i was told I'll be going to stay with my elder brother, I was really happy, not because I was changing environment but at least I'll be eating well.

When I got to my brother's house, the first thing he used to welcome me was "As you've come over to stay with me, bear it in mind that you won't be eating in this house anytime you want even if there's food. I'll be the one to give you food or ask you to eat".

He said this in Igbo and he meant it. Not up to a month i came in, he started locking the cupboard where he stores food stuffs mainly Garri.

Most times when he wants to go out or travel, he'll ask me to take some of my things like clothes and find where to sleep till he comes back or he better still lock his cupboard and then travel.

Sometimes, I'll be outside with other neighbors gisting at night and when it's time for everyone to go inside, I'll go to our own apartment and find out he locked the door.

The worst is, this is just around 9pm sometimes 10pm. He'll just lock me outside and I'll end up sleeping outside.

Nost times i sleep in the kitchen or inside my neighbor's Keke NaPep, and mosquito will use me as dinner till the follow morning.

He will always ask me to leave his house at any slight misunderstanding.

The first day he did that, my landlady sat him down and asked him why treats me like a stranger. All he could say was "there's nothing I have to say, the main thing is just for him to leave my house"

I met a man who owned a tailoring shop and told him I wanted to learn tailoring, I told him my situation and how a skill would really help me. He accepted to teach me without taking a penny from me but asked me to get a surety..."
