Sigmoid flexure

The sigmoid flexure, also known as the sigmoid colon, is a section of the large intestine located just before the rectum. It's called the "sigmoid" because of its S-shaped or sigmoid shape. The main function of the sigmoid colon is to store fecal material until it's ready to be eliminated from the body. It plays a crucial role in the digestive process and in maintaining bowel regularity.
